Real estate broker Hellickson loses another round
By Seattle Times staffNationally known short-sale specialist Michael Hellickson has lost another round in his battle to keep his real-estate license.
Alan Haight, director of the state Department of Licensing, upheld an administrative law judge's ruling that the licenses of Hellickson, his wife Tara and their firm, Hellickson.com, should be revoked for 10 years.
Haight agreed the Hellicksons, of Bonney Lake, had engaged in dishonest practices, including false advertising, that took advantage of struggling homeowners.
The Hellicksons are scheduled to lose their licenses Sept. 9. But Douglas Tingvall, their lawyer, said his clients will appeal to superior court and ask for a stay. He called the licensing department's disciplinary proceedings "a sham."
